There are several types of competitions held throughout the physie year and all members are very welcome to enter. All competitions are completely optional. Competition entry fees can apply.
INTERCLUBS
These are the first competitions of the year and are held in July/August. Interclubs are hosted by one club who invites 5 or more clubs to attend. The focus is on having fun and meeting new friends from other clubs while performing the syllabus in a competition environment. Port Macquarie Physie and dance will attend 3 of these competitions per year with the locations and dates to be advised. Clubs usually charge a small entry fee for spectators to help cover costs.
ZONE CHAMPION GIRL
Zone competitions are held in Tamworth in October. These competitions are for ages 5 to 12 years and all APDA clubs from our Zone attend, they are the major competition of the year. Zone competitions give competitors the opportunity to qualify to compete at the Junior National Finals which are held at the prestigious Concourse Concert Hall in Chatswood, NSW. Entry for spectators to zone champion competitions is usually around $10.00 for an adult.
ZONE FOR 13 YEARS TO SENIORS
This is held in October at Abbotsleigh College, Wahroonga, NSW. Zone competitions give competitors the opportunity to qualify to compete at the National Finals which are held at the magnificent Sydney Opera House. Entry for spectators to zone champion competitions is usually around $10.00 for an adult.
LADIES CHAMPION LADY
Champion Lady is held in November and offers the chance to compete at the National level. Champion Lady is held over a weekend at the prestigious Concourse Concert Hall in Chatswood, NSW. Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Over 40, Over 50 and Over 60 age groups compete through heats and semi-finals to progress to the National Final where places are awarded.
Open Under 30, Open 30-34 Years and Open 35-39 Years age groups have a final of 14 ladies selected and from this the top 4 ladies in each age group then compete for Ladies Grand champion at the Sydney Opera House in late November. Entry fees for spectators to this event will be advised closer to the dates.
TEAMS
A team normally consists of 8 junior girls or 6 ladies who work together on the competition floor at the same time, in unison. We would be so excited to enter a team in every age group. Teams are a lot of fun and normally involve a great girls’ weekend away in Tamworth or Sydney. Teams are a great introduction to physie competitions and we encourage all members to consider being part of a team. Entry fees for spectators to team’s events is usually around $10.00 per adult.
NATIONAL FINALS
Junior National Finals are held in November at the prestigious Concourse Concert Hall in Chatswood, NSW. Senior and Lay National Finals are held in November at the Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House. Making a National Final and competing at these competitions is one of the biggest achievements in physie. Both the Junior and Senior/Ladies National Finals are events that are worth seeing and tickets range in price from $45.00 to $55.00 per adult.
